About Lillie

Lillie Brooks may not be from Athens, but she is proudly for Athens. Since arriving in 2008, she has called this community home. As a public school teacher, a parent of CCSD students, a former student in both public and private schools, and a dedicated community volunteer, Lillie has seen education from every angle. These experiences have shaped her values and inspired her to run for a seat on the CCSD Board of Education. Lillie is deeply committed to CCSD’s students and to strengthening the Athens community she loves.

Lillie believes that every student in CCSD should be able to find a path that allows them to maximize their potential. Encouraging our families to be active participants in their students’ educational experiences and finding ways to reach every student in novel and unique ways will strengthen our district for generations to come!

Lillie’s Priorities

    • The overall literacy rate of the entire district should be studied and supported in ways that will lead to an improvement in our students’ ability to read on grade level by the 3rd grade and maintain that until graduation. Lillie’s work in the classroom and hearing stories of student experiences in her schools’ communities has ignited her passion for deeper understanding and supporting those students with dyslexia and other learning differences, students who typically need a higher level of support with literacy-related goals.

    • Alongside a statewide campaign of improving low attendance rates, Lillie understands the importance of students being in class on time and being present the whole day. She will work to aid the district in forming a plan to tackle this extremely important issue.

    • The CCRPI scores are a very important indicator of a school district’s success. It is highly important that we continue our work to improve these scores and the graduation rates.

    • In Lillie’s opinion, the ACCA is one of the highlights of our school district! It provides students with opportunities that are unique and fulfilling. We are very fortunate to be able to accommodate those students who are interested in the pathways that are offered at ACCA. The incredible relationships that are built between ACCA and local professionals and businesses is commendable and it should be adequately supported so that it can continue for future generations of CCSD students.
